UPDATE: We received confirmation that the face scan app is exclusive to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users, no support for PC users. You can read the full press release below. No official word for PC users, but we will update this post if we hear more. Scheduled to arrive on September 8, the app also includes the collectible NBA 2K themed card game, MyTEAM Mobile, which allows players to collect their favorite NBA player cards and legends to challenge other competitors across the world in quick games, season tournaments, and weekly special events including Rivals Clash and Road to the Championship. Fans of NBA 2K17 on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be able to scan their faces into the game with the upcoming mobile companion app, MyNBA2K17. We won't know if it works better (likely) or worse (can you imagine?) until we get our hands on it September 8.Mentioned back in June, it is now official. We're glad Visual Concepts is trying a new approach to facial scanning this year. NBA rookie of the year Karl-Anthony Towns graces the cover for MyNBA2K17 app, so look for the Timberwolves star's face in the mobile marketplace to track down the app. In addition to the face-scanning tech, the app features the ability to win VC points daily (the virtual currency used in NBA 2K17), a MyPlayer shop for perusing console items for your created baller, a MyTeam Mobile collectible card game, and the ability to buy and sell MyTeam cards via the auction house. This year developer Visual Concepts is taking a new approach via its MyNBA2K17 mobile app.ĢK confirmed the console version does not include the PS Camera or Kinect support this year, so users who want to scan their face must download the My NBA2K17 mobile app, which releases on iOS and Android on September 8.

The NBA 2K16 face-scanning technology was good for a few laughs, but didn't do a great job of capturing your likeness.
